The 31st LD was well-represented at Pierce County Democratic Central Committee’s event, “Keep Pierce Blue” on Oct. 6. We filled two 10-person tables, and our own State Senate candidate, Michelle Rylands, got a shout-out from special guest Senator Maria Cantwell!
That’s right, Senator Maria Cantwell was there, and as she neared the end of her speech, she said the most important action we can take in Washington State right now is to get Michelle Rylands elected to the State Senate!
Other speakers included Washington State Auditor Pat McCarthy, who gave an informative and inspiring history of women in American politics, and T’wina Fields Franklin, President and CEO of the Tacoma Urban League, who called on us to “stay woke,” and for more of us, especially women, to use this moment of political awakening to get involved and run for office.
It was an exciting, inspiring, electric evening, and I fully believe it accomplished its goal: to “Keep Pierce Blue” for many years to come.
