Presentation on Initiative 1639

Below is video of a presentation from our August general meeting on Initiative 1639, which will be on ballots in November! We endorsed I-1639 on August 22.

“This initiative will seek to raise the age (from 18 to 21) that people can by assault weapons, and require a comprehensive background check for purchasing those weapons (in line with Washington’s current handgun laws).

The initiative also establishes parameters for what constitutes safe storage and creates penalties for people who are not storing weapons safely in the case that those weapons get stolen and are used in a crime.”
