May 24 Endorsement Meeting Summary

On May 24, the 31st Legislative District Democrats had our annual endorsement meeting. Below is a summary of the outcome:

Candidate Endorsements

The 31st Legislative District Democrats members voted to endorse the following candidates:

• Nate Lowry for State House of Representatives (Position 2)
• Michelle Rylands for State Senate District 31
• Brooks Salazar for Port of Seattle Commission (Position 4)
• Larry Brown for Auburn City Council (Position 6)
• Mitzi Johanknecht for King County Sheriff
• John Urquhart for King County Sheriff

Initiative Endorsements

The 31st Legislative District Democrats members voted to endorse the following initiatives:

• King County Proposition 1 – Access for All
• Decline to Sign I-1552

Postponed Endorsements

• Nancy Backus for Mayor of Auburn
  • Several members of the 31st proposed that members have time to review the recent Auburn city council meetings minutes/video (May 15, 2017 / May 1, 2017) prior to voting on endorsement. As a result, members voted to postpone the vote until our June monthly meeting.
